A New Beginning
"Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end."
Those are lyrics from Semisonic's 1998 hit "Closing Time." And those lyrics are very reflective of this new project.
Welcome to the reLAX Lacrosse Blog. It's another lacrosse website, but I hope it becomes one that you decide to visit on some sort of basis.
If you've landed here, there's a good chance you've read my previous work over at College Crosse for the last four years. I had the pleasure to produce creative, unique, and high quality content, including the site's All-Freshmen lists beginning in 2016. I did a lot with that site outside of writing, whether that was podcasts, videos, interviews, and building relationships with individuals and teams throughout the sport.
That fun run ended right before the start of the now shortened 2020 season. But I've always had the itch to still write and produce content. For the love of lacrosse.
I fell in love with the sport very late in the game, as a freshman in high school. I was not going to make varsity of even JV teams at La Salle College High School, but I still wanted to somehow be involved in sports. I stumbled upon lacrosse thanks to Bill Leahy, La Salle's varsity head coach and my freshman guidance counselor.
I didn't start following college lacrosse until I got to Syracuse in 2014. Prior to that, I went to two college lacrosse games in 2013, a Duke-Maryland showdown and the national championship between Duke and Syracuse. That was alongside watching a handful of games on TV during my sophomore, junior, and senior years of high school. But once I got to Syracuse and began to work with the men's lacrosse program, I became a very quick learner of the sport.
reLAX Lacrosse Blog will be my own personal project for whenever I feel like doing anything on the sport. It won't be a competitor to some of the other lacrosse sites out there, only a complement to the overall environment.
Don't expect posts every day of the week, maybe even every week. Every so often, I'll come here to do something that I hope will intrigue, entertain, or inform readers about the sport. My hope is this site can be a place to...well, reLAX.
